30 Jan Edible Lovebug for Valentine’s Day

Crafts are a fun way to stay involved with your kids. As a parent it can be hard to know what your kiddo is feeling or thinking, and one way to connect with them is to do things together that create a bond that’s unbreakable. If you’ve been following our blog posts, you already know that Little Newtons, the most trusted child care center, has been giving parents craft ideas that are Valentine’s Day themed. Here’s a yummy craft that everyone in your family will enjoy.

Marshmallow Love Bug

What you’ll need:

  • Giant marshmallows
  • Pink sprinkles
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Mini gumdrops
  • Large gumdrops
  • Mini heart cookie cutter
  • Heart confetti sprinkles
  • Spaghetti
  • Black edible marker
  • A rolling pin
  • Wax paper
  • Sugar
  • A styrofoam block
  • Shortening
  • Toothpick
  • Knife
  • Light corn syrup

What to do:

Take a lollipop stick and slide two giant marshmallows onto it. If you’re having trouble getting the marshmallows on the stick, try greasing it up with a small amount of shortening before you begin. Then, fill up a deep cup or bowl with water and proceed to dip the marshmallow stick into the water quickly. Immediately after dipping, dab the excess water off the mallows with a paper towel. While the mallows are still damp, sprinkle a generous amount of sprinkles over the marshmallows. Be sure you do this over a plate because it can get messy! Once completely covered in sprinkles, lay your mallows to rest on wax paper.
