- Make sure that you’re giving your child plenty of time to get ready every morning they have preschool! Preschool is a big deal for your child, and they should be excited. Try not to rush them by giving them an amount of time that will enable them to eat breakfast and get ready for their school day.
- On their first day of school, it’s important that you send them to school with something that makes them feel at home. If they have a favorite teddy bear or they like wearing a cape, be sure they can bring it to preschool to make them feel more comfortable.
- When you arrive at school, park the car and head in with them. Help to get your child settled in. If you haven’t taken a tour of the school prior to their first day, guide them to their cubby, where they will place their lunch, etc. Introduce them to their teachers and some students nearby.
- Discuss a goodbye routine before you leave your home for school that day. Explain to them that you won’t be able to stay with them during the school day and give them reasons why. Tell them what they’ll be learning about, activities they will be able to do and it’s always a great idea to tell them how many friends they’ll be able to make! It’s never a bad idea to tell your kiddo about your experiences when you were a child and let them know that you’ve been through what they’re going through as well.
