Books are a great tool to use to teach kids many different aspects of life. Whether you’re trying to teach your kiddo how to use their imagination, or you’re teaching them the colors of the rainbow, using books is one of the best ways to accomplish this. In our last blog, the leading child care center located in Champlin, Little Newtons, gave parents and guardians a type of book to purchase: Picture storybooks; however, there are more types of amazing books out there you must know!

Types of books to read to your young child:

Children love interacting with their parents, and anyone for that matter. If you’re wanting to give your child a chance to interact with you, it’s important you buy the right book for the job. Participaction books, although another type of storybook, are a wonderful tool, and these books ask children to participate. Participation books will suggest actions, such as asking your children to clap their hands, cover their eyes or touch their toes. Another type of participation book children highly enjoy are Lift-the-Flap books. Specifically interacting with the book itself makes children excited to learn what’s to come. New discoveries are fun for kids, and for parents too!

Participation books we suggest you read include the following:

  • Clap Your Hands by Lorinda Bryan Caulery
  • Spot Goes to the Park by Eric Hill

Enroll your child and get to know the books we have!

To learn more about the books our child care center in Champlin provides its kiddos, give us a call! We’re more than happy to give you a list of books we read, as well as accept suggestions.
