11 May Mother’s Day Crafts
There are several great Mother’s Day Crafts to do with your children at home. 1. Handprint craft: Paint your child’s handprint with paint and place on either construction paper or craft paper. You can add glitter to the handprint, or a stem to make it look like a flower. There are many great Mother’s day poems to add to the card. “This is to remind you when I grow so tall, that once I was quite little and my hands were very small.”
2. Photo Bookmark: Take a cute picture, use a hole punch at the top and some string. Add a sweet saying on the back and you can take it to an office supply store to laminate it for a small fee.
3. Tulip Bouquet: All you need is pipe cleaners, cupcake liners and a vase. An alternative is to paint the cupcake liners prior. Pop the end of the pipe cleaner into the middle of the liner and twist so it stays in place. This is a great craft for preschoolers.
4. Swirly Flower: This one takes a little more patience. Using a single piece of colored paper; cut it into 2 inch wide strips (as long as you would like) 2×8 works well. Make a thin fold along any one of the vertical edges. Fold the paper into half and cut fringes horizontally. Leave 1 cm along the vertical edge. Roll the thin strips into a swirly pattern. This takes the most time. For making the stem–Cut a long strip 2×10 of green paper and roll it diagonally from one end (corner) to another. Apply glue on both ends to make sure it is secure. Finally–Take the swirly fringed paper and apply glue along the intact part of the swirly fringed paper. Wrap the glued area of the swirly-fringed paper on the stem.
